Antenatal workshop 1:
Journey of birth:
Understanding your labour and knowing what to expect
Sat 2nd of August 10am-12pm
A calming, confidence-building 2-hour workshop
Join as a one-off or as part of the full 5-week antenatal course
When labour begins, many expectant parents feel a mix of excitement, nerves, and uncertainty. This session is here to help you feel gently guided and emotionally prepared for what’s ahead — whether you’re planning to attend just this workshop or you're joining us for the full course.
Together, we’ll explore what actually happens when labour starts. And not just physically, but emotionally too. With warmth and clarity, we’ll talk through the stages of labour in a way that feels simple and reassuring. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of what your body is doing, how to recognise the signs that birth is beginning, and when it’s time to reach out to your midwife or head to the hospital or midwife led unit.
In this session, we’ll cover:
The stages (or rooms) of labour - from early signs to birth of your baby and golden hours that follow after
What’s common, what to expect, and how labour may look and feel acknowledging that that it is a deeply personal journay and no two births may look the same
How to tell when it’s time to rest, move, or call your midwife
Emotional tools to help you feel calm, connected and grounded
Ways your birth partner can begin to offer gentle, meaningful support
This workshop is designed to help you feel informed and calm, so that you can meet the experience of labour with more confidence and less fear. We’ll share tools that support your emotional wellbeing, with a focus on awareness, self-trust, and mindset. A separate session later in the course will go deeper into hands-on practical tools for comfort and pain relief.
You’ll receive helpful recap notes and handouts to take home, so you can revisit the learning in your own time.
Whether you’re brand new to birth preparation or already gathering knowledge, this session will help you begin your journey feeling supported and seen.
