Antenatal Classes in Glasgow Now Includes Infant CPR & Baby First Aid

Preparing for birth often comes with a long checklist like packing hospital bags, the exciting task of preparing baby clothes, attending antenatal appointments and writing birth preferences. But one thing many parents tell me gives them the greatest peace of mind is knowing what to do in an emergency.

That’s why I’m so excited to share that our antenatal course at Good Times Birth now includes an infant CPR and baby safety workshop as part of the course experience.

Little Lifesavers - now delivering first aid and infant CPR workshops and 1 to 1 sessions in Glasgow

This practical session is delivered by Lauren - founder of Little Lifesavers. She is a US-trained Family Nurse Practitioner with 16 years of experience, specialising in emergency medicine. The one hour workshop that will be a part of the Antenatal and Hypnobirthing course is specifically designed for expectant parents who want to feel calmer, more confident, and more prepared for life with a newborn.

Why Learn Infant CPR Before Baby Arrives?

Most parents hope that they will never need to use first aid skills.

But knowing what to do if your baby chokes, becomes unresponsive, or has an accident can make a huge difference, not only practically, but emotionally too.

So much of early parenthood can feel uncertain. Having simple, clear knowledge around baby safety helps many parents feel more confident and empowered rather than fearful.

What Is Covered in the Workshop?

The infant safety and CPR workshop will run as part of the Newborn care session of the 5 week Antenatal and Hypnobirthing course. It will cover common baby emergencies and what to do in those situations.

Topics may include:

  • Infant CPR

  • What to do if a baby is choking

  • Essential safety guidance for early years

  • Basic emergency response guidance

  • Building confidence in high-stress moments

Laurens part of the session takes a calm, flexible, and parent-focused approach; adapting to the needs of each group and breaking down key skills in a way that feels clear, practical, and easy to remember.

With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and real-life scenarios, Lauren helps parents build genuine confidence so they feel prepared in unexpected situations.

Why I Added First Aid to My Antenatal Course

At Good Times Birth, I’ve always wanted my antenatal classes to prepare parents not just for labour, but for the transition into parenthood as a whole.

Birth preparation matters deeply. But so does what happens after baby arrives.

In my courses I already cover postpartum self care, newborn care, safe sleep and feeding, but first aid felt like a missing piece for a long time.

Because I know that as parents, we spend so much time hoping for the best for our babies, and most of the time, that’s exactly what happens. But there’s something incredibly grounding about knowing that if a frightening moment ever did arise, you wouldn’t feel completely powerless. I felt that providing the knowledge of infant CPR and the basics of safety care can help parents feel steadier, and more reassured as they step into this new chapter.

I didn’t want to just provide a link to an online course. I wanted warm, practical, hands on workshop that would help expectant parents to retain the information they have learned and be confident in using their skills if they ever have to.

I was very lucky to meet Lauren at a perfect time, while researching independent first aid teachers in Glasgow and we hit it of from the get go planning the workshops and collaborations together, settling on the idea of seamlessly incorporating infant CPR into the Newborn care session of the 5 week course.
